Events & Programs
GWIM has established a program of skills workshops, seminars, symposia, and networking activities that have increased communication and mentorship among women faculty at GUMC.
GWIM makes a significant contribution to professional lives of women faculty at Georgetown and serves as a model for other medical schools that are attempting to strengthen scholarship and excellence in teaching, research, and patient care in academic medicine.
Examples of programs GWIM has sponsored in the past year include:
- Skills workshops for faculty on negotiation, polishing a presentation, and multi-tasking
- Lunch seminars with invited speakers
- Panel discussions on balancing the responsibilities of clinicians and educators
To support these programs, GWIM receives financial support from both the Office of the Executive Vice President of GUMC, Edward B. Healton, M.D., M.P.H., and from the President of MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, Michael C. Sachtleben.
